At Basecamp Masai Mara we have 12 double Riverside Tents, all situated along the Talek River, on the edge of the Maasai Mara National Reserve. The thick riverbed plant life allows for privacy and comfort, without sacrificing the view of the Maasai Mara National Reserve. With more than 286 identified bird species, you will awake to the music of birdsong while staying at Basecamp Masai Mara.
Basecamp Explorer Kenya operates camps across Masai Mara and as a Wildlife and Conservation oriented organization working closely with the community, Basecamp has a strong commitment to practice sustainable developments. Basecamp Masai Mara is a Gold Eco Rated Camp and operates on an Eco friendly model. The model includes the participation of 500 Masai families who have given their land in trust and in return receive a monthly income as per their size of land. This ensures the future conservation of the land and its people.
Basecamp Kenya works closely with the local Masai community in the development of sustainable tourism destinations that provide economic and social benefits. The goal is to create an enabling environment for community wealth creation, ecotourism investments and conservation, through engaging with host communities, ecotourism investors and organizations, social investors, philanthropists and like-minded organizations to innovative approaches to natural resource wealth creation, community empowerment, resource management and traveler donations.
